The Academy Program 8th Grade Cohort Leader is a part-time position designed to support the mission and values of Boys Hope Girls Hope (BHGH) through targeted out-of-school time programming focused on community building and character development. The 8th grade cohort meets every Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00pm; the Cohort Leader is required to be on campus by 3:30pm and stay until 7:30pm. In addition, there will be staff meetings/trainings from 4:00 – 5:30pm on the 4th Monday of every month during the program term.
Major Responsibilities: ?
Manage classroom of 20-30 students;
Deliver curriculum in ways that are engaging and promote individual and community growth;? Maintain accurate attendance and Scholar records, including Scholar portfolios;
Maintain organization and cleanliness of classroom space; ? Support the vision and mission of the organization
Critical Criteria:
Qualified applicants will hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or other relevant disciplines.
Candidates must also have: ?
At least two years of experience working with youth in school or out-of-school time environments;? At least two years of experience working with students from urban, low-income environments; ? Experience teaching math, science, and/or language arts;
Life skills development experience;
An understanding of learning styles and learning development;? Excellent classroom management and communication skills
